Gas, in September 43% is LNG arrived in Italy by sea
Regasifiers first unblocked entry into our country. Flows from Rovigo and Ravenna on the rise
LNG, flows arriving in Italy grow. According to the latest Gme report on Snam Rete Gas numbers, in September, imports into Italy (4,508 million cubic metres in total, equal to 47.7 TWh) saw inflows through regasifiers grow to 1,918 million cubic metres (20.3 TWh), reaching a share of 43%. In May and June, LNG accounted for 33% of inflows.
Rovigo and Ravenna on the rise
Significant is the increase in volumes from the regasifier in Rovigo (6.7 TWh, 14% of the total, up 14% compared to the same period last year) and Ravenna (3.3 TWh, 7% of the total: +3%)
In September, the volumes entering our country via pipeline decreased to 2,590 million cubic metres (27.4 TWh). In particular, the decrease mainly affected the entry point of Mazara del Vallo, where gas from Algeria arrives (11.2 TWh, -15% compared to the same period last year). This dynamic led LNG from regasifiers to return to being the country's first source of supply, ahead of Algeria and Azerbaijan (via Tap).
Consumption
On the consumption front, 4,058 million cubic metres (42.9 TWh) were used in Italy in September (gross of exports), an increase over the previous month. Compared with August, there was a significant increase in withdrawals in all distribution sectors, higher in the civil (1,008 million cubic metres, 10.7 TWh) and industrial (1,011 million cubic metres, 10.7 TWh) sectors and lower in the thermoelectric sector (1,817 million cubic metres, 19.2 TWh). Exports and other consumption more than doubled compared with the previous month, totalling 221 million cubic metres (2.3 TWh). The increase in consumption was also due to the fact that the consumption of the electricity sector in Italy was higher than in August (1,058 million cubic metres, 10.7 TWh)
Stoccaggi
In addition, injections into storage sites continued in September, with the total stock of natural gas amounting to 12,912 million cubic metres on the last day of the month. Already in the first half of the month, the target of 90 per cent had been reached, and these days it is moving towards 94 per cent, as Staffetta Quotidiana reported.
