A life spent between fashion and art and now converted to her own accessories brand. Sheida Uma Sorgato, after working for 13 years in the Prada group, first chose to join her Persian mother in the family business, an antiques gallery in the centre of Milan specialising in Middle Eastern art - where she refined her knowledge of Persian porcelain and Chinese furniture, but also designed jewellery - and then set up her own brand of bags.
The gallery first on Via Rossari and then on Via Borgospesso was open until just before Covid and was the place where Sheida began to exhibit her jewellery creations. Recently, Sheida's creativity has found its way into bag design with a new brand called Enplus Sheida. A sober and refined elegance characterises her choice to devote herself to such an important accessory for women.
The Pouf bag in the different sizes, the petite (20 cm), the medium (30 cm) and the big (38 cm), marries plain velvet in shades ranging from apple green to mustard, from orange to brick, from fuchsia to shades of teal to limited patterns realised in collaboration with certain shops. Last summer the designer created a Jeans Recycled line. She found Levis jeans and recycled them into Pouf Bags that were successful. It is easy to think that these models will be revived next spring.
The Pouf is a soft but capacious bag that lends itself to every occasion of the day. 'It is simple but luxurious,' Sheida tells Il Sole 24 Ore. In the conception I started first of all from the material, after having found a workshop that helped me in defining the product. The production is limited (the workshop works for several brands, ed.) for a non-branded but elegant bag'.
A second model has just been launched, Jolie, which is partially reminiscent of a small travel case. Again, the material chosen is velvet in four colours: chocolate, teal, mustard and military green. These are striking colours, which make for a personalised and unique outfit. "My wish was to create an elegant day bag that could also be worn in a casual manner. The velvet for this latest model is a complex workmanship, which makes the bag precious".
