Edison, together with ARCES, Fondazione Ortygia (operators in the educational system and labour market in Sicily) and AFORISMA, a private School of Management in Southern Italy, launch in Sicily the project of a School of Energy Trades for young people who want to acquire a technical-professional training qualification that can be spent in the energy labour market.

L’iniziativa

The initiative is based on an educational model that Edison, in partnership with Aforisma, launched after the pandemic lock-down and successfully tested in Apulia, where the School of Trades prepared young people for the trade of Thermohydraulic Operator and Technician for the Installation and Maintenance of Civil and Industrial Energy Systems.

Theoretical-practical training

Having completed their theoretical and practical training, the young people found work in the area, many of them in the same companies that participated in their practical training. With the launch of the new initiative in Sicily, the Edison Group intends first of all to support its development plans in the Sicilian territory by preparing to cover future professional needs, including those of its network of local partners, but the initiative is also open to the participation of local companies interested in the same technical and professional skills needs.

Bond with the territory

.

"For the labour market of the energy sector, the ecological transition is also an opportunity to generate valuable employment related to the new trades of the energy transition," said Giorgio Colombo, Edison's HR and ICT Director. "The Scuola dei Mestieri dell'Energia model rediscovers and regenerates the training and didactic model of the trades schools of the large industrial companies that accompanied the growth of our country after the Second World War, evolving it into an open and participatory territorial eco-system.

"Sicily is Edison Energia's first market in Italy, and since the liberalisation of the energy market we have been investing in it constantly. We are present with 2 operating offices, more than 170 shops and a capillary network of 300 local installers,' added Massimo Quaglini, Managing Director of Edison Energia

"The School of Trades project will further strengthen the partnership with our network by involving it in the training project for young people," emphasised Giuseppe De Pace, CEO AMG Gas. "We firmly believe in training as a tool for personal and professional growth, as well as a lever for the redemption of the territory," added Giuseppe Rallo, Director of ARCES. "By joining the School of Energy Trades in Sicily, we strengthen the Ortygia Foundation's commitment to building bridges between school and the world of work," are the words of Gini Dupasquier, Director of the Ortygia Foundation. In short, "Bringing the School of Energy Trades to Sicily means creating a training ecosystem rooted in the territory, not just replicating a model," summarised Elisabetta Salvati, Founder, President and Scientific Director of AFORISMA School of Future.
