From cupboards to lighting systems: Simest donates 1,700 items of furniture to schools and organisations
The items available are divided into nine categories: wardrobes and furniture, bathroom fittings, upholstered furniture, equipment for communal areas, IT equipment, chests of drawers, lighting fittings, chairs, tables and desks
Key points
More than 1,700 items of furniture and equipment – ranging from cupboards to lighting fittings – are now available to schools, voluntary organisations, local authorities and third-sector organisations. This is the donation recently made by Simest, the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti Group company dedicated to the internationalisation of Italian businesses, which forms part of the group’s social responsibility and sustainability initiatives.
The journey that has begun
The initiative forms part of a wider effort to promote the principles of the circular economy, encouraging the reuse of items that are still in working order and helping to reduce waste, the consumption of new resources and the generation of waste.
Through this initiative, Simest aims to make the most of its existing assets, transforming property no longer used by the company into a tangible resource for organisations that work on a daily basis to support people and communities.
The assets made available
The items available are divided into nine categories: wardrobes and furniture, bathroom fittings, upholstered furniture, equipment for communal areas, IT equipment, chests of drawers, lighting fittings, chairs, tables and desks. The items are being given away completely free of charge. The items will be allocated ‘as is’, without any certification or guarantees, with the aim of extending their lifespan and encouraging their reuse.
Who can take part
Organisations operating throughout the country and falling into the following categories are eligible to take part: local authorities, civil protection bodies, state and state-recognised educational institutions, third sector organisations, non-profit organisations (Onlus), Pro Loco associations, social promotion organisations, family homes, foundations and non-profit associations.
