Singapore’s Temasek fund acquires a stake in FSI

Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, Temasek – one of the world’s largest institutional investors – is strengthening its presence in Italia and has chosen FSI as its partner to expand its involvement in the Italian market.

Temasek is set to acquire a stake in the management company of FSI, the Italian group led by Maurizio Tamagnini, thereby becoming a shareholder in one of the country’s leading investment firms. However, the deal is not limited to acquiring a stake in the management company: Temasek will also act as an anchor investor in FSI’s funds, making a significant financial commitment to the various vehicles managed by the group, starting with the newly launched Scale Up fund.

The agreement therefore strengthens the relationship between the two investors and gives FSI an even more central role as a platform providing large institutional investors and sovereign wealth funds with access to investment opportunities in Italia. Overall, FSI now has approximately €2 billion at its disposal through its investment vehicles.

For Temasek, the deal represents a further step in its investment strategy in Italia. The Singaporean sovereign wealth fund already holds stakes in major Italian companies, including Moncler, Golden Goose and Zegna, and by acquiring a stake in FSI it is broadening its exposure to the Italian market, complementing its direct investments with a stake in a platform specialising in private equity and investments in Italian companies.

For FSI, on the other hand, Temasek’s entry confirms the position it has built up over the years as a key partner for major institutional investors and, in particular, for sovereign wealth funds interested in the Italia market. This model aims to combine international investment capabilities with a strong local presence and transactions characterised by partnerships with entrepreneurs.
