Sinner and Alcaraz, a new challenge at the Atp Finals tonight at 6 pm in Turin
As expected, the Spaniard, world number one, won in two sets against Canadian Auger-Aliassime at the Atp Finals. Today the last act with Jannik Sinner, the defending champion
World number one Carlos Alcaraz is going to the final of the Atp Finals, and for the sixth time this year he will face Jannik Sinner (the seventh, if you count the Six Kings Slam in Saudi Arabia). Sinner and Alcaraz will take the court today at 6pm at the Inalpi Arena in Turin. On Saturday night, as expected, the Spaniard swept aside Félix Auger-Aliassime 6-2, 6-4, with his usual irrepressible and unpredictable game.
The first set was without history, the Canadian was never able to crack his opponent's wall of power and confidence. Who even on this occasion did not give any points of reference, alternating explosive groundstrokes (impressive forehand accelerations) with surprising short balls, often following his first serves to the net with volleys that brought low points. Add to this the fact that Alcaraz defends with the same fury with which he attacks, and you can understand the sharpness of certain results. Even if he commits a few too many errors (to the point of conceding a break point, later cancelled), the arrows in his bow are many and he can easily remedy them.
In the second set, however, the Canadian was able to hold his ground against the Spaniard's impetuosity, he held serve until 4-4, the crowd supported him and Carlos made more errors. But at 5-4, with the tension at a thousand, Auger-Aliassime lost his composure with a cue and two free errors... and so on the second match point the world number one closed the score 6-4.
The head-to-head clashes between Sinner and Alcaraz smile at Alcaraz (who for the first time in his career reaches the final at the Atp Finals), leading 10-5. This year alone, the Spaniard won four times: in Rome, Paris, Cincinnati (where Jannik actually retired) and Us Open, while Sinner triumphed at Wimbledon. At the Finals Jannik is the defending champion (last year he won with Taylor Fritz). What is certain is that the duo now appears undisputed, if it is true that they have shared the Slams and will now compete for the title of "Master of Masters".
