Jannik Sinner is back in the round of 16 at the Internazionali d'Italia. The world No. 1, in his 23rd consecutive victory, beat Dutchman De Jong yesterday with a score of 6-4, 6-2 in one hour and 33 minutes.
"The match was different from Saturday's match against Navone, also because of my condition. In fact, I started well but then had a big drop-off,' explained Jannik Sinner at the end of the winning match.
"De Jong started playing better when I was in physical trouble but fortunately I was good at getting the break back immediately. He then got injured and the game changed. In any case he is an incredible player and an incredible person, so I hope it's nothing too serious," added the 23-year-old from South Tyrol.
The Dutchman, number 93 in the ranking, repeatedly asked for the physiotherapist's intervention after two slips in which he put his foot wrong during the match.
