Sinner monitored by GPS (but does not love it)

The device that monitors heart rate, speed, movements, kilometres travelled. Jannik however in the match with de Jong took it off

After the first set win with Dutchman Jasper de Jong, Sinner took off his shirt to get rid of the black top that contained the Gps placed on his back, a device he put on in Rome both in training and in the first match with Mariano Navone. It is a machine authorised by the Itf (International tennis federation) since 2019 and which the Italian tennis player had already tried that year in training. Now it can be used in official matches and it is useful for the data it provides, especially in the case of Jannik who has returned to play after three months away from the courts, with the pressure, physical exertion, sprints and stretches of a tournament match. The monitoring of heart rate and the tracking of field positions, kilometres covered, average and maximum speed, and accelerations are in real time: the device transmits the data to a connected tablet.

Six years ago, when Sinner was at the Piatti centre, Riccardo Piatti declared, reported by Supertennis, on the eve of the Next Gen that Jannik would not use it 'in matches because at the moment he finds it uncomfortable, he feels it moving around and is not comfortable. I regret it very much because (...) biometric data during the performance can be very useful in the growth of a player'.

Today we will see, the appointment is at 3pm with Argentina's Francisco Cerundolo for the round of 16. A tricky match, the direct clashes are tied: 2-2. They have not faced each other since 2023, when Jannik was defeated in Rome. But a geological era seems to have passed since then.
