Sinner will not be taking part in the Canada Masters 1000: ‘Health comes first’
For the second year running, Jannik Sinner will not be taking part in the Canadian Masters 1000, which is due to be held in Montreal this year.
World number one Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic have withdrawn from the National Bank Open, the Masters 1000 tournament in Montreal.
One of the standout players is Alexander Zverev (ATP No. 3), the 2017 champion, who recently won his first Grand Slam title at Roland Garros.
Canada’s Félix Auger-Aliassime (No. 4) will also be taking part, returning to the tournament for the ninth time on home soil, with the aim of improving on his best result to date – the quarter-finals he reached in 2022. He comes into the tournament on the back of two consecutive quarter-final appearances at Roland-Garros and Wimbledon, and will be the number 2 seed in a Masters 1000 tournament for the first time in his career.
The South Tyrolean will therefore bring his run of six consecutive Masters 1000 titles to an end (including all five played in 2026), opting instead for a bit more rest ahead of the upcoming Cincinnati Masters and the US Open.

I’m disappointed not to be able to take part, but I’m looking forward to returning to Montreal in the future,” he added.
