Skiing, Goggia wins Super-G in Val d'Isere
The Italian Olympian, in her fourth career victory on the French Oreiller-Killy track, beat New Zealand's Alice Robinson and American Lindsey Vonn
Success no. 27 in the World Cup for Sofia Goggia, who won the super-G in Val d'Isere in 1.20.24, immediately redeeming Saturday's unlucky downhill. The Italian Olympian, at her fourth career victory on the French Oreiller-Killy slope, preceded New Zealand's Alice Robinson (1.20.39): on the podium the American Lindsey Vonn was again the protagonist, who in 1.20.60 left the other Italian Elena Curtoni (1.20.97) in fourth place.
For Italy, in a race that was also partly disturbed by the wind at altitude, there were further back Roberta Melesi in 1.21.29 and Trentino's Elena Pirovano, penalised by a mistake, in 1.21.46. Now a short Christmas break for the World Cup. The Italian women will return to competition next weekend in Austria, in Semmering, the mountain of the Viennese, with a giant slalom on Saturday and a special on Sunday.
