Wunderkammer skiers in the collections of Caesar Rimini
The exhibition 'They all went skiing' can be visited in Milan, at the MUDEC, Museo delle Culture, until 15 March
Key points
Behind the white beard that commanded the due respect of the prince of the law, it was not given to most to even glimpse or imagine the passionate and refined collector. Cesare Rimini, the matrimonial lawyer par excellance was all this and much more, and the exhibition at Milan's Museum of Cultures recounts in a sophisticated, learned and nostalgic manner the habit cultivated with the grace of one who has seen much of human vicissitudes to draw who knows ... inspiration and treasure.
Mudec, Museo delle Culture
On the occasion of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Cultural Olympiad, the MUDEC and 24 Ore Cultura present a true wunderkammer that interprets the theme of the skier in 20th-century European art, through 50 precious small sculptures in majolica, biscuit, polychrome ceramics and more, capable of recounting the evolution of the figure of the person who, by practising this sport, ended up becoming the interpreter of taste and of aesthetic and social variations over more than a century of history.
The showcases feature marching skiers, 'egg' figures, telemark technique, elegant ladies with ski poles, posing couples, downhill scenes and small family groups. Each piece conveys a different idea of the mountain: sporty, mundane, intimate, theatrical, futuristic, everyday. The whole composes a choral tale in which snow becomes a lived space, a place for relationships, an athletic gesture, but above all a cultural horizon.
The presence of the Rimini collection at MUDEC is also made possible thanks to the support of Ceresio Investors, sponsor together with the family of the exhibition project, which enhances this fascinating collection
