Small on the outside, big on the inside: this is how Aixam is reshaping the world of microcars
The Easy model is here, becoming the entry-level model in the range

Whilst the market for traditional cars is slowing down, minicars are flying off the shelves. The Aixam Mega is now a mainstay: in Italia, it accounts for 34% of the market, with more than 4,400 vehicles sold in the last year alone. The strategy? On the one hand, to cater to those seeking comfort; on the other, to welcome those approaching this world for the first time. To achieve this, they have invested €30 million in a new state-of-the-art plant in France, increasing production by 50% compared to the old factory. Aixam is now able to bring up to 30,000 minicars to market each year.
The latest model on the market is called the Easy. It’s designed for those who want to enter the world of Aixam (and minicars) without compromising on safety: you can choose between a petrol or electric version, both featuring smooth lines and a fresh, minimalist design. It appeals to young people looking for a safe way to get to school, but it’s also ideal for those in the city who want a small, affordable car. And there’s room for creativity too: you can customise the dashboard and doors with specially made adhesive films.
Whilst the Easy range focuses entirely on simplicity, the Premium range showcases Aixam’s more ‘grown-up’ side, with interiors that resemble those of a proper car. Three distinct models, all available in both diesel and electric versions. The City model is designed to tackle the urban jungle, so it’s nippy and full of character. The Coupé has bolder lines, whilst the Cross nods to the crossover style: it’s no coincidence that more and more adults in Europe are opting for this model.
Inside, everything has changed: the dashboard is in a league of its own, the steering wheel is designed to feel better in your hands, and the seats are comfortable and supportive. But the real star is the massive 23-inch panoramic infotainment screen. If you’re after something super-personalised, the GTO and GTI versions let you choose your wheels, sound system and much more, whilst the Pack and Sport trims ensure you’ll want for nothing in terms of comfort. And what about space for bags and suitcases? There’s plenty to spare: starting from 422 litres in the Easy, right up to a generous 640 litres in the Cross.
From work to shopping: professional solutions and bespoke purchases
Aixam also caters for those who use their car for work. The Aixam Pro range, which – like the other models – can be driven from the age of 14 with an AM licence, is tailor-made for those who need to transport goods in city centres: there is a Van version and a Double Deck version, both easy to drive and which can be recharged simply by plugging them into a domestic socket.
