Say Smart and you say the compact citycar par excellence, two seats and perfect for finding parking in busy cities like Rome or Milan. If the farewell of the Smart Fortwo had left thousands of motorists orphaned, with the consequent reappraisal of second-hand thermal models, now the German manufacturer from the Mercedes galaxy and now half of the Chinese Geely group is back on its feet by announcing the arrival of Smart #2.

New Smart Fortwo

Set to be unveiled by the end of 2026, the successor to the Smart Fortwo will be called #2 and will complete the range consisting of Smart #1, #3 and #5. Christened 'project: two', it will be an all-electric city car produced in China. Designed to combine intelligent and sustainable technological solutions, the #2 will be a key model in boosting the Smart brand's sales figures. "The confirmation of our 'project: two' and the launch of the future smart #2 represent a decisive moment for the smart brand on a global scale. The smart #2 will shape a new era of individual urban mobility, especially in iconic cities for the brand such as Rome or Paris. It is a decision that comes at the right time: we can count on the complementary strengths of our major shareholders, Mercedes-Benz and Geely, the strong support of new investors and the success of the recent launch of the smart #5. The new smart #2 will be a unique but perfectly coherent addition to our 100% electric range in Europe," emphasised Dirk Adelmann, CEO of smart Europe.
