A leap forward from Covid: the share of companies using smart working, or agile working, has almost quadrupled since then, from 8.9 per cent pre-pandemic to 32.6 per cent in 2023. Thus, one in three companies use it. This is the result of the survey on labour developed by the Centro studi di Confindustria. This mode of working is more widespread in services, 38.5%, than in industry, 28.2%, partly due to the very nature of the activity.
More agile working in large enterprises
.Company size also plays a role: in companies with fewer than 15 employees, 24.2 per cent of workers use smart working, a figure that increases in medium-sized companies, 35.5 per cent, and rises to 66.6 per cent in companies with more than 100 employees.
4.2% do not work in the office three days a week
.Analysing the intensity of the use of agile work, it appears that in companies where it is provided for, more than one third of non-managerial employees used this modality, 34 per cent, with no substantial differences between industry, 33.8 per cent, and services, 34.2 per cent. More specifically, 8.9% of employees used it for up to one day a week, up to four days a month, 20.9% chose this mode for 2-3 days a week (5-12 days a month), and 4.2% for more than three days a week (more than 12 days a month).
