Solari, the market runs between innovation and prevention
A market, that of solar energy, which is around USD 14 billion globally and continues to grow at a compound annual rate (CAGR) of over 4%. And that in Italia has recorded a positive trend, consolidating an annual growth rate of 5.9%.
More than four million professionals in our country are exposed to UV radiation every day, with a significantly higher risk to skin health. Despite growing awareness, photoprotection still remains underused and often left to individual responsibility. This is why La Roche-Posay is launching the Buoni Sole (Sun Vouchers) initiative, which aims to make sun protection a real company benefit for outdoor workers in Italia according to a model inspired by company tickets: a simple system that allows companies to integrate photoprotection into their HR programmes, making it a concrete part of their work safety measures.
"Sun protection should be considered part of every worker's safety kit, on a par with other personal protective equipment," says Onorina Iannuzzella, general manager of La Roche-Posay Italia. "With Sun Vouchers, we want to make a fundamental preventive gesture simple and accessible, helping companies to guarantee their employees a more complete level of protection.
The project is already active with a pilot programme together with Irritec, a company with headquarters in Sicily and one of the main global players in precision irrigation, CanevaWorld, one of the most important entertainment centres on Lake Garda, and Terre d'Aenòr, an organic winery in Franciacorta, who are field-testing the initiative, with positive feedback from the workers involved.
Free mole checks are back all over Italia with the fourth edition of the Cantabria Labs Difa Cooper "Find your mole" campaign, active until 20 May in 115 pharmacies located in various Italian regions. An initiative that is part of a context in which the perception of the sun and skin protection among Italians still remains partially misaligned with respect to dermatological recommendations. According to the Heliocare Observatory presented by Cantabria Labs Difa Cooper, almost one Italian in two continues to associate a tan with beauty or health, despite the risks associated with sun exposure. This is a relevant and worrying fact, if we consider that excessive exposure to UV rays is one of the main risk factors for the development of skin tumours and skin ageing.
