Somec, a company based in San Vendemiano (Treviso, Italy) and specialised in the design, production and installation of complex turnkey civil and naval works, has concluded through its US subsidiary Fabbrica LLC - part of the Horizons division, engineered systems for naval architecture and civil façades - a contract for the construction of the façade of a hospital building in Hartford, in the State of Connecticut (USA). The total value of the agreement is USD 29 million, and the economic effects are expected between the second half of 2026 and 2027.
The project concerns a nine-storey building that is part of a healthcare complex with a long tradition, which has been committed to education, research and high specialisation in surgery for more than a century. It is a pole recognised as a landmark for the city of Hartford and the State of Connecticut.
Fabbrica, in more detail, will develop - from assistance through design and engineering - a customised curtain wall system of more than 11,000 square metres, characterised by a high technical content and a distinctive architectural effect, which is scheduled to be realised in the years 2026-2027.
Oscar Marchetto, President of the Somec Group, emphasises: "It is a source of deep pride to be chosen, more and more often, in initiatives aimed at people's health and medical research. Through our work we combine technology, functionality and beauty, aware that even healthcare needs places capable of welcoming and improving the lives of those who live them every day. It is also in this vision that our architectural and engineering skills are reflected, alongside leading partners. For Fabbrica and the entire Somec Group, this order represents a new opportunity to express the experience gained in prestigious realisations in North America, an area that has always recognised us as reliable and innovative protagonists".
Just a few weeks ago, Somec, through its Mestieri division, announced a series of new orders worth a total of €25 million for high-end interior projects and iconic architectural elements in Europe, the Middle East and North America.
