His dream is to be able to coalesce all the cooperatives in the sector that are already market-oriented into a single commercial platform, with one goal: to export Grana Padano throughout the world. Because for Tiziano Fusar Poli, veterinarian and president of Latteria Soresina since 1998, there is no doubt: 'The future of our farms is to take our products to the world, the domestic markets are mature, in regression and with very high competition.

For now, the foreign market of Latteria Soresina - the largest co-operative in the Italian dairy world, world leader in the production of Grana Padano with 5,456,500 wheels in 2023, representing 43% of turnover - exports are worth 30% of the business, but the goal is to aim for 50%. The 2023 turnover closed at 500 million "and 2024 estimates," says Fusar Poli, "stand at 550 million euro".

"Concordia parvae res crescunt, discordia maximae dilabuntur': inside the factory in the lower Cremona area, the Latin motto stands out, which, together with the mantra 'feet fixed in the present, gaze into the future', represents the guiding star. "And then," he says, "we set ourselves the basic objective of growth, because if a company does not grow, it is destined to die. The philosophy shared by Fusar Poli is the automotive one: 'lean model', continuous improvement (they apply it in Toyota).

Latteria Soresina's growth in value began along internal lines with six mergers with cooperatives in the Grana Padano-Provolone area; five acquisitions, the last two of which were the most significant: the Oioli brothers, two years ago, 'because the Gorgonzola PDO has growing shares in the world', and then Saviola, in a cordination with Zanetti, last April, which represents a new synergic model between the industrial and cooperative worlds. "This is a highly coherent operation for us," comments Fusar Poli, "because it offers us remarkable development opportunities on pre-packaged products: so much so that, thanks to the Pnrr, we are putting 18 million in investments on the ground on logistics.

And then there is an aspect that Fusar Poli proudly claims: 'We have carried out an operation to protect Italy's milk heritage, because the interest of international players in our PDO products is very strong.

In 23 years, the growth in size of Latteria Soresina's members in terms of quintals produced has been 257%, the number of dairy cows in the various herds has jumped by 112%. In addition to Grana Padano, the cooperative also produces packaged milk (11% of turnover), natural milk (12%), Parmigiano Reggiano (8% of turnover), butter (8%), provolone and filate (7%).

The next goal is self-sufficiency within a year. And, insists Michele Falzetta, General Manager of Latteria Soresina since 2018, two strategic year cycles behind us and - in sight - a third cycle: 'The conquest of the international market, focusing on PDO products, in great demand abroad, with innovative models'.
