Space, 50 Italian companies in the USA with Ice and Asi: growing aerospace exports
With an annual turnover in excess of €16 billion and an export share of over 70% of total production, the sector represents one of Italy's most strategic and highly innovative manufacturing industries, with over 50,000 highly qualified professionals
The Italian space industry is flying to America for a month, coordinated by the Ice, the Istituto per il Commercio Estero and with the presence also of the Italian Space Agency, Asi. More than 50 national companies will participate in three important events in March and April and we are off to a very good start.
In fact, there are strong signs of growth in the sector coming from overseas: in 2025, US aerospace imports from Italia increased by 7.9%, a good five times more than overall imports, 1.5%, and above all, this approach seems to be working and receiving confidence from American buyers. Driving the 2025 performance are mainly the aircraft and helicopter components sectors, worth $1.038 billion - over 60% of the total - and growing by +23.27% over 2024. This year, therefore, we are working to confirm the result and even increase its value, presenting a system, that of Italia, which is cohesive and complete.
It started with the Adss in Seattle on 18 and 19 March, continued with SatShow in nearby Washington D.C., and concluded with the Space Symposium in Colorado Springs. Three important venues for 3the space economy operators coordinated by the Ice office in Houston.
Adss is a typically American event, among people who like to discuss face-to-face in order to understand each other and make decisions, but there will also be, according to the organisers, important networking moments between large companies, such as Boeing hosting the event, and specialised manufacturers.
Some interesting start-ups from Innovit - Italian Innovation and Culture Hub in San Francisco will also be presented in Seattle. Twenty-one Italian companies will be present, from A. Abete, from Nola, to Zoppas Industries, from Vittorio Veneto, with activities ranging from the production of precision mechanical parts to production automation for the industry to flexible heaters for aerospace. Adss is also an opportunity to understand how communication and negotiation works in America. It is in fact a well-established experience, also thanks to these co-ordinated events, that Americans 'trust' more those who come to them, those who invest in their country, even trivially with the presence of a venue; if they see this they believe the interlocutor, they tend to trust in plain words. And for trade, that is no small thing.
