The year starts again with renewed energy and the first 2026 issue of HTSI is dedicated to the power of passions and the protagonists of fashion, music, sport and creativity.
What will be the soundtrack of the new year? In an era when everything is available, at any time, within the reach of an i-phone, the playlist has become an orientation tool and a form of private storytelling, more effective than the logic of the algorithm. "When one engages in selecting the talent of others - which is the job that gallery owners, booksellers and deejays do - a strong personalisation of the choice and some trust and sharing between the chooser and the recipient of the choice is essential," writes Luca Sofri in his new book Playlist (Altrecose). In order to understand which sounds should accompany us along this 2026 that has just begun, we asked two Italian artists who live and write music every day - two talents with different sensitivities and profiles, Venerus and Rbsn - to build a compilation capable of uniting curiosity, a taste for new discoveries and agreements of past and present.
From the rhythm of music to the rhythm of nature, naturalist Titouan Bernicot guides us in the discovery of a fascinating profession, his own: in the depths of the abysses off the Koh Rang National Park in Thailand, he works as a coral gardener. He cultivates, grows and revitalises the reef in one of the most interesting and biodiversity-rich underwater parks. "My favourite is the bubble coral, studded with round, hard polyps that look like candy," he says. "And then the soft corals, the giant flat corals and all the schools of fish, rays, urchins that populate them."
While each passion reflects a different psychological profile, it is interesting to explore the different lifestyles, from the most extreme and uncontaminated nature to the dynamism of large metropolises.
Here then is a journey through the latest innovations in the world of motors, analysed from the point of view of the individual and his needs. Faced with a generation of drivers who are extremely diverse not only in their tastes in design and power, but also in their personal choices, brands are grappling with an ever increasing customisation effort. The car is an extension of the self: there are energetic driving styles and gentlemen drivers, long-distance travellers and urban style managers, whose priority is fast parking anywhere. But the same owner may have different cars and different needs depending on the time or place of use. So the pool of options multiplies. Even if only the size parameter is taken into account, the range is maximum: from real mobile maxi suites with six wheels to microscopic keicars.
