The Top Thousand Observatory was set up over eleven years ago with the intention of building an agora where all fleet and mobility managers with fleets of more than a thousand vehicles could exchange views on mobility issues, having an equal relationship with the entire automotive supply chain. A new observatory has recently been set up, aimed at companies with fleets of 100 to 999 vehicles. The new observatory is called Top Hundred, and its chairman is Riccardo Vitelli, former President and Senior Founder of Top Thousand. "In agreement with the new board of directors of Top Thousand," says Vitelli, "and in particular with the new President Maurizio Capogrosso and Vice President Valeria Braidotti, we have decided that the new course of Top Thousand will aim to broaden the audience to which the Observatory is addressed. Our annual events Fleet Motor Day, Fleet Manager on The Road and Vertical will certainly continue, and we will create new ones, establishing new relationships with all stakeholders and media interested in talking to us. We also want to be increasingly present at events organised by other friends of the mobility world.

Turning to the burning issues for the sector, on the recent tax reform his ideas are clear: "We have adapted to the new rules, but not all companies will be able to afford the luxury of including vehicles in the fleet with fees at least 30% higher than thermal vehicles. I therefore expect that some colleagues will be able to make a choice of downsizing engines and models, together with a reduction in the services required, up to the extreme solution of eliminating the benefit in favour of lowered salaries in the pay packet".

Equally clear are the demands for the future: 'We need policies that do not focus on the incentive aspects, but aim at the creation of a sustainable long-term economy'. Some advice, finally, to fellow fleet managers on how best to face the complex challenges of the corporate mobility sector. "Keep up to date and compare yourself with colleagues and stakeholders in the sector, do continuous scouting to have an up-to-date benchmarking, diversify if possible and above all have a lot of passion for what you do".
