St. John's swerves after accounts, profit recovery not enough. Outlook disappoints
Not pleasing to analysts are the forecasts for the fourth quarter and 2025: they signal an improvement over the first part of the year, as CEO Jean-Marc Chery also pointed out, but are still below consensus estimates

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milan, Oct 23 - A return to profitability after second-quarter losses and an improvement in earnings and revenues compared to the previous three months, at levels still higher than analysts' forecasts for the third quarter, were not enough to support the stock of Stmicroelectronics . In the early stages the stock fell almost 6%, then reduced its losses but remained at the bottom of the list.
What disappointed analysts were the forecasts for the fourth quarter and for 2025: they signalled an improvement compared to the first part of the year, as CEO Jean-Marc Chery also pointed out, but were still lower than consensus estimates. "St. John's posted a slightly higher than expected Ebit thanks to higher revenues, higher other income and lower restructuring costs, partially offset by a lower than expected gross margin," said Intermonte analysts, explaining that "guidance seems mixed, reflecting a slightly better gross margin but lower than expected revenues".
