He stamps his time card but goes to work in Switzerland, public employee reported
Gdf discovers communal worker leaving work to carry out other activities in the canton of Ticino: 18 incidents incriminated
Key points
The Varese Guardia di Finanza (Finance Police) continues its action in the fight against malfeasance in the Public Administration, with particular attention to the phenomena of absenteeism and conduct involving the misuse of public resources.
Only formally in service
The financiers of the Luino company identified an employee of a Municipality of Alto Varesotto who, although formally on duty, was working in Switzerland.
The man, a public green maintenance worker, used to systematically leave the workplace after regularly punching his time card to pursue personal activities and, on several occasions, to work for a company based in Canton Ticino.
Investigations with stalking
The investigations, coordinated by the Varese Public Prosecutor's Office and carried out by means of observation, surveillance and tailing services, made it possible to document repeated and structured behaviour over time: the employee used to reach the town hall on board a municipal vehicle to testify his presence, shortly afterwards parked his service vehicle at the municipal warehouse and then drove away in his own car and lost track of him, even beyond the border.
All this while formally working for the Pa.
