Start-up, a call for the development of biodiversity in agrifood

Eleven start-ups in the agrifood sector have been selected for the advanced acceleration programme of the investment company LaGemma Venture, which aims to create a hub of innovation and growth in the province of Cuneo.

The total investment is one million (1.7 last year)to support solutions with a high environmental, social and economic impact. Agrifood25 addresses four strategic areas: Agriculture (with a focus on Agritech and sustainable techniques), Feeding (with a focus on superfoods and protein alternatives), Biodiversity and Biodegradable Solutions;

"The global context," explains LaGemma Venture, "imposes an acceleration in agrifood innovation, in the face of environmental crises, resource scarcity and production urgencies: by 2050 we will need to produce 70% more food. In this scenario, start-ups, agroecological practices and sustainable packaging become key tools, in line with the EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030.

Candidations are open until 21 September and are aimed at start-ups in the seed and pre-seed stage, with solutions already validated or in early revenue. Selected companies will have access to a4.5 month intensive course, receive an investment of up to EUR 160,000 in equity and collaborate with over 50 professionals and companies in the sector.
