The hotel industry confirms itself as a winning sector, in which Italian players play well. The latest coup is that of the Statuto group, which has purchased the Six Senses in London from The Whiteley for 180 million pounds (1.65 million per room). The hotel's 109 rooms are managed by Six Senses under a 30-year contract with the possibility of renewal.

The hotel that will open in early 2025 will retain some of the original art deco features of the building, such as the wide staircase in the lobby. In addition, 14 fully furnished luxury residences (one to two bedrooms) are planned. "With this specific agreement in such an international city, we are proud to be a key player in the first Six Senses opening in London, offering international travellers a new iconic experience," the Statuto Group said. Our strong ties with hospitality brands in the luxury segments continue to grow. The group is strengthening its role in the European market with such an important milestone as London'.

The building was constructed by development manager Finchatton and joint venture partners Mark and CC Land. Spartan Advisors and Taylor Wessing were retained by The Whiteley for the sale, while Baker McKenzie advised the Statuto group on the transaction. The acquisition is part of a broader plan of transactions by the group, which also recently bought the Six Senses Ibiza from private equity firm Metric Capital Partners. The acquisition of the Mandarin Oriental in Paris took place at the beginning of the year.

"The Statuto Group has a unique vision for luxury brands, having acquired a strong portfolio of leading international hotels across Europe," commented Adam Goldin, Head of UK at CC Land. "Six Senses London has benefited from high investor demand but, given the existing relationship with the Six Senses brand and the track record of relevant experience, the Statuto Group proved to be the right choice as long-term custodian.
