Stellantis: Belloni (Fiat CEO) is considering a second model at Mirafiori
Fiat is exploring and considering the possibility of a second model at Mirafiori alongside the 500. “I go to Turin every week; we already have two cars in mind. I can’t go into too much detail, otherwise I’d be giving away all the secrets. We’re working on a very small, extremely competitive car, in the same spirit as the 2CV, but not neo-retro – much more modern, with a totally different approach.” This was stated by Arnaud Belloni, the new CEO of the Fiat, Abarth and Lancia brands, speaking at one of the conferences on the opening day of the Paris Motor Show. “They’ll be here sooner than you imagine; we’re working on them in earnest,” he added, emphasising that “we’re working on the platform very seriously”.
“I want to build cars in Italia, and I want to build them at Mirafiori. Obviously, we are a global brand, so we operate in Brazil, Turkey and Morocco, but we must manufacture in Italia and, of course, even more so in Turin. It’s part of our history. Fiat is Fiat thanks to Turin, and Fiat is Fiat thanks to Italia.” These were the words of Arnaud Belloni, the new CEO of the Fiat, Abarth and Lancia brands, speaking at one of the conferences on the opening day of the Paris Motor Show. “We want to build Fiat’s future in Italia and at Mirafiori too,” said Belloni, explaining that “we have a responsibility”. Speaking about the concept car unveiled on the eve of the Motor Show – the Multiplay, inspired by the Multipla – Belloni said that “for Italians, the Multipla is part of the family; it’s an icon. The potential of this name is enormous even outside Italia” and “I will fight to bring it back into the Fiat range”.
