Stellantis, Filosa: no downsizing in Italy. Chinese cars? Brussels is the real problem
The CEO: each Italian factory has its own production mission. But the European Union must change the regulations
"Our plan is our commitment and there are no planned downsizing" of the workforce in Italy, said Antonio Filosa, CEO of Stellantis, interviewed by Bruno Vespa during the programme 'Cinque Minuti', which will be aired this evening on Rai 1. Stellantis' plan for Italy "is very pragmatic and assigns a clear production mission for all the factories, to each plant without any exclusion", said Filosa, explaining that the company "is investing 2 billion euros in one year in Italy alone, we are purchasing 6 billion euros in components and services from all-Italian suppliers. We are clearly doing our part, we need the second part, we need an urgent revision of the regulations in Brussels".
"Unrealistic regulations from Brussels"
"The Chinese manufacturers, however fierce their competition, are not the real problem. The problem is the regulations coming out of Brussels, which are unrealistic and which are weakening what we have at our best, namely the European and Italian automotive industry," Filosa told Bruno Vespa. "If these regulations change, we have everything to go back to what we were before, design, innovation, technology, planning," Filosa stressed.
