At Pomigliano, the new Stella Small platform, the commitment to develop the new Fiat 500 and the new Pandina at Mirafiori and Pomigliano respectively, the new models in production at Melfi from next year - the new Lancia Gamma, the new Jeep Compass and the DS 7 - also in hybrid version, and at Atessa the development of a new-generation Van. These are the main commitments of Stellantis presented at the Mimit table in the presence of ministers Urso, Calderone and Giorgetti, Anfia, trade unions and the regions hosting Group plants.
The Italy Plan
Jean Philippe Imparato, the Group's number one in Europe, defined in detail Stellantis's choices to strengthen the production plan in the plants in Italy, with the forecast of growing volumes starting in 2026 and investments of two billion next year. "The Italy plan meets the requests expressed by the government," says the Minister for Enterprise and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso.
The Stellantis Stla Small platform will therefore arrive in Italy. The new production architecture dedicated to compact car models in segment B will be available from 2028 in Pomigliano, with two new models on the launch pad. Turin will, from 1 January 2025, be the headquarters of Stellantis' Europe Region and the headquarters of the group's Commercial Vehicles division.
Three models will be produced at Cassino on the Stla-Large platform, from 2025 the new Alfa Romeo Stelvio, from 2026 the new Alfa Romeo Giulia and then a new top-of-the-range car. The production of Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Giulia in hybrid as well as electric versions is being evaluated. At Atessa, production of a new version of the Large Van will begin in 2027. Finally, Modena will become the top-of-the-range pole, involving the Motor Valley production ecosystem in this mission to develop the project together with all the players in the supply chain.
"For Stellantis, the time has come to 'team up' with Italy to address the existential challenges we face and underestimated by some in Europe," he said at the opening of the ongoing Table at Mimit. "I hate broken promises and I don't want to be contradicted by facts. So, I put my face to it,' was Imparato's pledge.
