Stellantis strengthens pact with Qualcomm on Adas and in-vehicle systems
The US chip manufacturer's technologies will manage ADAS, cockpits and connectivity within Stellantis vehicles through a single integrated platform, STLA Brain
Stellantis and Qualcomm Technologies extend multi-year technology collaboration to equip the group's next-generation vehicles with Snapdragon Digital Chassis platforms, supporting digital cockpits, connectivity and advanced driver assistance systems. The agreement, announced at Stellantis' Investor Day, integrates Qualcomm solutions with Stla Brain, the group's electronics and software platform.
The collaboration aims to create a common, scalable technology base between the Stellantis brands, with the goal of accelerating time-to-market, enabling continuous feature upgrades and enhancing the driving experience, while increasing cost efficiency through platform standardisation.
The extension of the agreement also includes Snapdragon Ride Pilot, a scalable Adas platform that will be able to evolve from active safety and regulatory compliance functions to level 2+ 'hands-free' automated driving and beyond, enabling these functionalities on millions of vehicles in the Stellantis global portfolio.
As part of the deal, Stellantis and Qualcomm also signed a non-binding letter of intent for aiMotive, an automated driving and simulation company controlled by Stellantis, to become part of Qualcomm Technologies. The deal remains subject to several conditions, including due diligence, definitive agreements and regulatory approvals.
"Our customers deserve next-generation experiences that are fluid and constantly evolving to meet their driving needs," said Ned Curic, Chief Engineering and Technology Officer at Stellantis. "By deploying this intelligent platform across our global portfolio, Stellantis delivers on this promise with unprecedented speed and efficiency," he added, noting that the agreement enables the scaling of intelligent, connected capabilities across all brands.
