After Pomigliano, Pratola Serra and Melfi, it is also Termoli's turn to launch a voluntary redundancy plan for Stellantis employees. In the space of a few weeks, a thousand voluntary redundancies have been made among the 500 redundancies announced in Melfi, the 300 in Pomiglianoli and another 200 at the site historically dedicated to engine production. The union agreement, signed by Fim, Uilm, Fismic, Ugl and Quadri, was not signed by Fiom, which speaks of 'divestments of the Group in Italy'.

'The voluntary incentive exits from the Stellantis plants in Italy do not stop,' stressed Samuele Lodi, head of the Auto sector in the Fiom-Cgil national secretariat. 'All this,' he added, 'is happening when the group's CEO has not yet been chosen and we are therefore still in the absence of an industrial plan for the relaunch of the Italian plants.

Fiom is calling for the opening of a discussion with Stellantis at Palazzo Chigi, also involving Group President John Elkann, 'in order to reach an agreement that guarantees employment and the future of the automotive industry in our country,' says Lodi.

Italian production

.

Vehicle production continues to decline at all Stellantis plants in Italy, as shown by the report edited by Fim Cisl, with a 35% drop in the first quarter of the year compared to a 2024 that already recorded very low volumes, taking us back to the 1950s. Cars alone fell by over 40%, at the Melfi site the contraction was 64.6%.

The Lucania factory, where the Stla Medium platform has been installed, is in full industrial transition in view of the launch of new models. It is the plant that in terms of volumes, together with Pomigliano, loses the most cars, with 16,210 units less than in the first quarter of 2024, underlines Fim.

After the stop of the Fiat 500, the Jeep Compass and Jeep Renegade are being produced in Melfi and production of the DS8 - the first of the new models assigned to the Lucania pole - began a few weeks ago. The timetable envisages the start-up of the electric Compass in June, and the pre-series of the hybrid Compass by the end of 2025, with official production starting in the first half of 2026, together with the DS7, available in both electric and hybrid versions. Production of the new Lancia Gamma will start in the second half of 2026.

From 2021 to date, the staff reduction has affected almost 2,000 workers, bringing the number of employees to 5,050. The new voluntary redundancy plan will be valid until 31 December and envisages, for workers between 35 and 39 years of age, 12 monthly payments plus an incentive of EUR 20,000, up to 44 years of age the monthly payments become 18. Beyond the age of 49, the monthly payments will progressively rise from 30 to 33, with an incentive of 30,000 euro. For those employees who become eligible for retirement within 48 months, the company guarantees an amount equal to 90 per cent of the gross salary during the Naspi.
