Stellantis: Xavier Peugeot – ‘At Jeep, to compete with the Chinese, we’re banking on our DNA’
Jeep is focusing “on its own identity and the revival of its classic models to tackle the growing competition” from Chinese manufacturers. This was stated by Xavier Peugeot, Head of Jeep Europe, during a press conference on the opening day of the Paris Motor Show.
According to Peugeot, “all brands in Europe – and not just in Europe – are facing this situation. One of our main strengths in countering this challenge is our DNA”. The return of models such as the Renegade and the possibility of developing a new Willys represent “ways to stand out from the competition, combining the brand’s American identity with technologies tailored to the needs of European customers”. Looking beyond 2030, “Jeep is exploring new ways to meet ever-changing mobility needs.
“As the population becomes increasingly concentrated in ever-denser urban areas, demand is growing for compact and sustainable vehicles, suitable for both everyday city driving and getaways out of town,” said Peugeot, explaining that “this evolving context paves the way for a new vision for the brand: a future inspired by Jeep’s iconic models, with high-performance, compact and electrified vehicles designed to meet the mobility needs of tomorrow”.
