Chinese stock markets: Hong Kong closes up 0.51 per cent, Shanghai recovers 0.19 per cent
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Chinese stock markets have recorded their second consecutive rise, albeit a modest one, in an attempt to stem the sharp fall seen so far in October. The Hang Seng Index closed at 23,211.81 points, up 0.51 per cent: despite a lacklustre performance from technology stocks, the recovery was led by shares in the healthcare and consumer sectors. In Shanghai, the Composite Index closed at 3,697.52 points, up 0.19 per cent on the day the plenary session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China opened, with a focus on party governance.
