Chinese stock markets: Hong Kong closes down 1 per cent and Shanghai down 1.59 per cent; tech sector under pressure

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Chinese stock markets also closed lower, weighed down by fears of further Fed rate rises following yesterday’s US inflation figures, and by selling in the technology sector. Hong Kong closed 1.03 per cent lower (though the technology index was down 2.7 per cent), whilst Shanghai closed 1.59 per cent lower. Among technology stocks, Alibaba (-3.7 per cent) and Tencent (-1.3 per cent) came under pressure.
