Strikes, hot autumn kicks off: more than 60 strikes called in October

It promises to be a hot autumn on the strike front. As of today more than 60 agitations are on the agenda for October throughout Italy, including local, national and general strikes, from transport to school to health, via justice. On Friday 4 October, Dussmann workers working in the Av travelling cleaners' lots and at Termini and Tiburtina Stations will protest. The protest will cover the entire shift for each shift. National strike, Monday 7 October, of Gsa personnel assigned to fire-fighting, surveillance and first intervention services at roads, motorways and hospitals. The protest organised by Filt CGIL will last 2 hours from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Friday, 18 October, a strike is planned for workers of the Stellantis group and the entire automotive sector. The national demonstration in Rome is organised by Fim-Cisl, Fiom-Cgil and Uilm, while the duration of the agitation is 8 hours and is extended to the employees of the ancillary companies. Fismic Confsal, Aqcfr and Uglm have also proclaimed a state of agitation for workers in the automotive sector, calling for an eight-hour strike on the 18th and demonstrations in the eight cities where the main production sites in the sector are located. But probably the strikes that affect citizens most are those in the transport sector - Tpl, air and rail - and there will be no shortage of them in October.

Let us begin with local public transport. First hot day, 5 October, with the 24-hour national strike (with hourly articulation at territorial level) proclaimed by Orsa Trasporti; the strike in Rimini, from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm, of Start Romagna workers; the strike in Lecce (travelling personnel, train drivers and conductors of Ferrovie del Sud Est are on strike for the whole day with the prescribed guarantee bands 5-7.00 am.59 and 12.30-15.29); Modena, Piacenza, Reggio nell'Emilia (Seta workers go on strike for the whole day with the respect of the guarantee bands); Udine (Tpl Arriva Udine strike from 15 to 19). On 15 October Atm Trapani workers go on strike from 12 noon to 4 p.m. On 18 October there will be a 24-hour national strike by local public transport company workers (excluding the Emilia Romagna region and Atm Trapani). On 28 October Busitalia Sita Nord strikes in Umbria.

The unrest also affects rail transport. On 9 October, 24-hour national strike of Rfi infrastructure maintenance workers, including technical and administrative offices, called by Cub Trasporti, Cobas Lavoro Privato, Coordinamento Ferrovieri and Assemblea Nazionale Lavoratori Manutenzione Rfi. From 9.00 pm on 12 to 8.59 pm on 13 October, national strike of workers of companies carrying out railway activities (excluding Rfi infrastructure maintenance sector). On 13 October, Trenitalia staff in Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta will strike for 8 hours (from 9.01 to 16.59).

Finally, the air transport. On 11 October, the staff of Techno Sky Gruppo Enav of Milano Acc, Linate Centro Aeroportuale C.A. and Monte Settepani Crt, of Bari and Brindisi will strike for 4 hours. On 11 October, Enav workers in Palermo will go on strike, from 1.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. (strike called by Filt Cgil and Uiltrasporti); Icts Italia workers at Pisa airport, from 1.00 p.m. to 4.59 p.m. (called by Filcams Cgil). Attention to 27 October, there is the national strike called by Uiltrasporti of EasyJet pilots who will stop for 4 hours, from 1pm to 5pm, excluding flights to and from Olbia and flights to and from airports in the Liguria region. On the same day, workers of handling companies operating in airports and associated with Assohandlers will cross their arms all over Italy, from 13.00 to 17.00. Also on 27 October, Enav workers in Olbia will strike from 1 to 5 p.m. and Sicuritalia Ivri employees in Venice.

Strikes also in the justice sector. On 7 October, lawyers in Lamezia Terme will refrain from hearings and judicial activities in the criminal sector. From 10 to 11 October, lawyers will strike in Torre Annunziata. On 8 October there will be a 24-hour national strike by experienced court clerks at the Ministry of Justice. From 14 to 18 October, the lawyers of the Crotone Criminal Chamber will strike. They will abstain from hearings and all judicial activities in the criminal sector for five days. Healthcare. On 11 October, there will be a national strike in private healthcare companies that apply the Aris-Aiop, Aris Rsa, Aiop Rsa and Uneba collective bargaining agreement, called by Cub Sanità, and in public and private companies in the health, social health and social welfare sectors. On 15 October, the workers of the Hermitage Maugeri clinic will strike for the whole day; on 18 October, the Oda workers in Catania and those of the San Camillo Institute foundation in Centallo (24 hours). Two other dates to mark: 18 and 31 October. On 18 October, there will be a 24-hour national general strike for all public and private sectors, called by the inter-branch trade union Cobas, for the whole day, excluding the public health and social-healthcare sectors, the company tekra of the Syracuse municipality, the company Atm Trapani, companies carrying out railway activities, Rfi, Enav in Palermo and Olbia, Technosky and easyJet. On 31 October, a national multi-sector strike is called for the civil service, school and fire brigade, excluding local functions limited to cemetery services and municipal police services, and the fire brigade limited to personnel working at airport sites.
