An earthquake tremor with epicentre in the Campi Flegrei and magnitude 3.6 was recorded in Naples at 8.08 am.
From the centre to Fuorigrotta, the earthquake was distinctly felt in several neighbourhoods of the Neapolitan capital, especially on the highest floors. For months, the entire Phlegraean area has been subject to seismic activity, generating panic among the population.
The earthquake was followed by other aftershocks.
Campi Flegrei: Mantovano signs decree appointing commissioner Soccodato
At the proposal of the minister for civil protection and sea policies, Nello Musumeci, on Wednesday 17 July the undersecretary to the Prime Minister's Office, Alfredo Mantovano, signed yesterday the dpcm appointing engineer Fulvio Maria Soccodato as extraordinary government commissioner for the implementation of public interventions in the Campi Flegrei area. As provided for in Decree-Law No. 91 of 2 July 2024, the Commissioner will have the task of ensuring the speedy implementation of seismic upgrading works on existing public-owned buildings in the so-called 'intervention zone' and the functionality of transport infrastructures and other essential and priority services included in the reconnaissance carried out by resolution No. 7 of the Campania Regional Council on 10 January 2024.
