The 'Premio Impresa Sostenibile' (Sustainable Enterprise Award), the initiative of Il Sole 24 Ore in collaboration with the Pontifical Academy for Life and the Small Industry of Confindustria, aimed at small and medium-sized Italian companies, is back for the third year running.
The aim of the initiative is to recognise the value of small and medium-sized enterprises that have succeeded in implementing effective, sustainable and community-friendly solutions and that have distinguished themselves by respecting the values of sustainability in different areas, not only environmental. Nominations are now open for the five award categories, including the new category Inclusive Sustainability.
The emergencies and crises - economic, social and human - that are marking these twenties are already of historic proportions: the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East with the concrete risk of an extended war, growing global instability, the difficulties in finding raw materials, the long-term effects of the pandemic and the energy question. Despite the situation being difficult and critical in many respects, companies are showing strength and tenacity, with that ability, which is a hallmark of Italian culture, to adopt new solutions and approaches to proactively meet the challenges that the present and the future impose on us. Many Italian companies have accelerated processes of innovation and digital transformation, while others have embarked on paths of development and growth with different approaches and a virtuous focus on sustainability.
Il Sole 24 Ore intends to collect, recount and give value to these new stories of resilient entrepreneurship, so that the virtuous examples and positive experiences will act as a stimulus and inspiration to give new impetus to the entire socio-economic system, making it fairer, more inclusive and forward-looking.
Each company can apply, by Sunday 22 September, by choosing up to two of the five Award categories. The Environmental Sustainability category includes innovations and virtuous processes with a positive impact on the environment, while Digital Sustainability looks at IT technologies to generate positive impacts and spin-offs to improve the environment, economy and society. Then the Economic Sustainability category looks at virtuous processes to generate jobs, keep added value on the ground, combine resources effectively and promote sustainable growth.
