The 30th anniversary season of the Milan Symphony Orchestra brings with it an increase in revenues compared to the previous one. According to the data provided by the Foundation, in fact, the 2023/2024 season ended with 2 million 560 thousand euro in revenue from ticketing, fundraising and collateral activities. This is an important result, especially in light of the intense attendance of the public at the Auditorium in Milan, with an increase of 125 thousand euro in income from ticket sales compared to the 2022/2023 Season. A positive trend was also registered at the level of subscriptions, with +22% more than in the previous Season.
The performance is also projected for the 2024/2025 Season, with respect to subscription sales for the new programming, the first built by the new Music Director Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, up 35% compared to the same period last year.
Another interesting fact concerns the presence of young people at the Milan Auditorium: +64% compared to the previous season. The crowning achievement of a more inclusive vision towards the Under 35 audience, in particular represented by the creation of Genesi - Generazione Sinfonica, the Under 35 Community of the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, a project specifically created to encourage the presence of young people at the Sinfonica's appointments.
That of the Under 35 Community is just one of the projects aimed at strengthening the relationship between the public and the Foundation, which has always been attentive to the enhancement of the articulate community that gravitates around it. From the almost 500 participants in the Singing Course for Stonati, to the 210 participants in the Music Courses, to the large community of Supporters, who constantly follow the Orchestra's activities, even on tour, to the fundraising campaigns that call upon this large community to play a leading role. Here the emblematic case of the fundraising campaign 'Un battito vitale', which saw the Foundation raise a record 50,000 euros in less than a month for the purchase of new timpani, registering an impressive response from the public and the community.
For Ambra Redaelli, President of the Foundation, 'it was an extraordinary season that began with Mahler, at the Teatro alla Scala, with the masterpiece Das Lied von der Erde, and ended with Mahler at the Dobbiaco Mahlerian Weeks, with the Sixth Symphony. Among the many proposals, a Festival dedicated to the great composer, a source of great pride for having been able to create a system with so many institutions and artists. There are many things I would like to thank, but I would like to dedicate them in particular to our great artistic community, to the many conductors, soloists, and orchestras that have brought our Auditorium to life, and to our musicians, who have brought their professionalism, passion, and emotion to make our hall come alive and ensure that great symphonic music awakens all the love that the public increasingly seems to feel".
