An award to remember the responsibility of those who write in newspapers, called upon not to stop at today, but to think in terms of responsibility for the future. The 14th edition of the Crédit Agricole Witnesses of History 2025 Award goes to Fabio Tamburini, director of Sole 24 Ore, the Radiocor agency and Radio24. In Trieste - which until 18 May hosts the 11th edition of the Link Media Festival, an event that every year attracts the best of quality journalism and communication - the award ceremony of the prize promoted by Link Media festival at the instigation of Crédit Agricole Italia and in agreement with the Pordenonelegge festival, which every year recognises the figures who have been able to recount our time with authority, rigour and sensitivity.
Tamburini 'today represents one of the most authoritative and appreciated voices in Italian economic and financial journalism,' reads the motivations for the award. 'A voice that, in a world often characterised by opposing forces and power struggles, has distinguished itself for its competence, balance, independent judgement and critical spirit. Last but not least, she also has the great merit of having made the issues of economics and finance, which are increasingly crucial for all citizens, much more accessible to the general public'.
Tamburini, editor-in-chief of Sole 24 Ore since 12 September 2018, published five books between 1992 and 2009, including 'Un siciliano a Milano' (an unauthorised biography of Enrico Cuccia) and 'Misteri d'Italia' (an interview with Aldo Ravelli, for half a century a protagonist of the Italian stock exchange). He also chairs the scientific committee of the Trento Festival of Economics, whose 20th edition takes place from 22 to 25 May. 'It is a prestigious recognition that I am extraordinarily pleased to have received. I dedicate the award to my family members, to whom I have taken up so much time, perhaps too much, to do the job of journalist. But also to the young people who are entering the profession with passion, adding an imperative piece of advice: maintain it over the years because it is an unavoidable condition,' said Tamburini as he received the award from Paolo Possamai, editorial director of the Nem Nord Est Multimedia Group, and Elisabetta Usuelli, external relations manager of Crédit Agricole Italia. "Lastly," he added, "I dedicate the award to all those in the world who work for peace, because the world has lost its compass and it is good that, if possible quickly, it finds it again". Previous winners of the Prize have included Giovanni Floris, Ferruccio de Bortoli, Ezio Mauro, Vittorio Zucconi, Gian Antonio Stella, Lilli Gruber Aldo Cazzullo, and Luciano Fontana. In the 2024 edition, the award went to Giovanna Botteri.
