At the request of Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, the Farnesina's Task Force on Tariffs has taken action to "protect our products from possible misinterpretations of the transatlantic trade agreement". This was announced by the Farnesina in a note explaining that "some US customs have allegedly requested higher tariffs than the rate agreed in the EU-US Joint Declaration for the import of Italian products such as Grana Padano and Parmigiano Reggiano".

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has made some specific approaches to the US Embassy in Rome and the Directorate General for Trade of the European Commission in Brussels, and similar instructions have been given to the Italian Embassy in Washington in order to make all interlocutors aware of the importance of timely implementation of the agreements reached. "Italy has always supported a frank and constructive approach in its dialogue with the United States, and will continue to do so by demanding the correct implementation of the agreement. We will protect our companies, our workers, and our manufacturing excellence with every available means," said the Minister, pointing out that the Task Force is also in constant contact with the Customs and Monopolies Agency for any appropriate technical coordination.
