"It is not just a matter for the Italian government, but for Europe, which must compensate for the lack of competitiveness of our products towards the United States and help those sectors most affected". Thus the president of Confindustria, Emanuele Orsini, speaking of possible initiatives after the US-EU agreement on tariffs in an interview with Tg1. "From now on,' he specified, 'a new extraordinary industrial plan for companies must be implemented. It is good to go beyond the Stability Pact for arms and defence, but we must also do so for industry and go immediately to make agreements with new markets, where we can be strong and partly replace the loss we have in the United States. On the Italian side,' Orsini added, 'we must immediately put measures on the ground that incentivise investment and above all succeed in increasing productivity'.

"Tariffs? Everything beyond zero is a problem'

.

"For us everything beyond zero is a problem. Today the impact of 15% tariffs means for Italian companies 22.6 billion in possible lost sales to the US. But we are underestimating one thing: it is not only the impact of tariffs, it is also the dollar-euro devaluation, which for us today means increasing the duty by 13%, which other non-European countries have an average of 2%. Hardly recoverable,' the president of Confindustria added to Tg1.

"On pharmaceuticals unthinkable tariffs above 15%"

.

"We know that on pharmaceuticals there is a negotiation. We cannot think that tariffs over 15% will be passed here as well, because it is already one of the sectors that will be greatly affected, along with all the machinery and tools that go to the United States,' Orsini again pointed out to the microphones of Tg1 at 8pm.

"EU must immediately implement an extraordinary industrial plan"

.

From now on, the EU must implement a new extraordinary industrial plan for companies; it is good to overstep the stability pact for arms and defence, but it must also be done for industry and agreements must be made with new markets, where we could be strong and partly replace the loss in the USA. On the Italian side, measures that incentivise investments and increase productivity must be put on the ground immediately,' the Confindustria president said at the microphones of Tg1 at 8pm, when asked what industrialists are asking of the Italian government.
