Donald Trump announced that he has signed several letters, 'probably 12', addressed to US trading partners on the implementation of new tariffs, anticipating that 12 of them will probably be sent on Monday. These are 'take it or leave it' offers, he pointed out to reporters as he boarded Air Force One.
According to the US president, it is easier to send a letter saying 'we know we have a deficit, or in some cases a surplus, but not much. And here is what you have to pay to do business with the United States'. "We did that with Britain and China and I think it was good for the parties," he added.
As is well known, after the chaos erupted in April post 'Liberation Day', Trump had set 9 July as the deadline for the conclusion of agreements between the US and its partners. Now, as the deadline approaches, anticipation (and nervousness) on the markets is rising over the final outcome of the negotiations, particularly with the European Union.
