The tax justice system is being reinforced. After the 173 winning magistrates ready to enter service - to which must be added the 22 transited from other magistracies - Deputy Minister of the Economy Maurizio Leo announced a new call for 177 more judges. The announcement came at the conference 'Fisco e Giustizia: un equilibrio possibile' (Tax and Justice: a possible balance), hosted in Palermo on 6 June by the association Io Pubblico - Jus Publicum.
Leo's reform: digital trial and monocratic threshold at EUR 10,000
In a video message, Leo went over the reform of the tax process: communications via Pec, digital acts, remote hearings, goodbye to mediation and conciliation extended to the Supreme Court. The most incisive novelty came from the Pnrr decree: as of 2 May, the jurisdiction of the monocratic judge rose from 5 thousand to 10 thousand.
Online from 2024, meanwhile, is the database of tax rulings on the merits, pending the extension to Supreme Court rulings.
Telematic tax proceedings, what changes with Sirianni
On the technological front, the Director General of the Department of Tax Justice Fiorenzo Sirianni announced the completion of the 'cycle of communications': a mobile phone alert signals the sending of the Pec by the secretariat. The limit of files that can be uploaded in the telematic process was also raised from 10 to 50 MB. A separate chapter is devoted to the secretariats, defined as the 'heart' of the structure: 101 organisational positions and 13 high-professionals operate in the area.
The guiding thread was given by the president of the promoting association, Enzo Priore: citizens and tax authorities are not adversaries, but share an interest in the resilience of the system. A mutual trust that in Italia remains below the OECD average and that the reform aims to rebuild.
