The Taylor Swift phenomenon has swept Japan this week, with fans arriving from all over East Asia at the Tokyo Dome to see the American pop star's last stop. A few thousand miles away, however, American fans are now hoping the star can return to the US in time to watch her boyfriend. Travis Kelce at the Super Bowl on Sunday.
Taylor Swift has been in Tokyo since Wednesday for four fully sold out shows. The Japan is the first stop in Asia on Swift's Eras Tour, which began last year and is the first to cross the billion-dollar threshold, also giving a boost to local economies.
Ticket revenue and other expenses related to the four shows in Japan are estimated to have an economic impact of34 billion yen ($230 million), according to the Economic Impact Research Laboratory.
Now the real challenge will be to reach the 58th edition of the Super Bowl, the final of the National Football League championship, on Sunday 11 February 2024 in Paradis (Nevada), a few kilometres from Las Vegas, in time.
Of course, to call Swift's worldwide travel schedule intense is an understatement. And indeed, it has catalysed quite a bit of controversy. Fans have followed her private jet on specialised websites, and there has been much discussion about the carbon dioxide emissions produced by these trips.
