From Tennis to Football, from Motor sport to Athletics, from Golf to Rugby. A summer, the one just around the corner, that promises to have a very rich offer for Sky subscribers who love sports. In fact, as was illustrated at a press event at Villa Miani in Rome, more than 90 competitions of all kinds for more than 6,000 hours of live coverage are on the way. Tennis is the great protagonist starting with the Internazionali BNL d'Italia kicking off in Rome: 13 days of challenges on the courts of the Foro Italico, with all matches live and the long-awaited return of Jannik Sinner. A great event that precedes Wimbledon, exclusively, and the US Open in the summer, as well as a series of no less than 42 tournaments.
In the House of Sport, tennis and current affairs, but without forgetting the history of the Italian 'racket'. This will be discussed in 'Tennis Heroes', the new 10-episode Original Production in which the legendary Adriano Panatta-Paolo Bertolucci duo is reunited: for the first time the legendary doubles together on TV in an original format dedicated to tennis, which will portray the great protagonists of yesterday and today.
Among the eagerly awaited events beyond tennis are the final rounds of the European Football Cups, the decisive challenges expected at the end of the month: the title of Europe's top competition will be awarded in Munich on 31 May, all live on Sky, as well as the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League finals on 21 and 28 May in Bilbao and Wroclaw respectively, plus the UEFA Super Cup final on 13 August in Udine. Without losing sight of the national and international leagues: on 21 May the last day in the Bundesliga, on the 28th the final rush in Serie A and Premier League, and in June the decisive challenges in Serie C.
Motors will also accompany the summer of Sky subscribers, thanks to 21 Formula 1 and MotoGP Grand Prix (as well as all the Superbike rounds), with many Italian stages between Imola, Mugello, Monza and Misano. Basketball is also in the spotlight: Turkish Airlines Euroleague and NBA titles are awarded, while the women's European Championship (18-29 June) and men's European Championship (27 August-14 September) are approaching. For rugby it is time for international matches, with the South Africa-Italy double-header in July and many spectacular test matches. Then the most exciting athletics meetings, up to the finals of the Diamond League in Zurich at the end of August, volleyball with the Final Four of the men's Champions League from 16 to 18 May in Poland, as well as the most legendary golf tournaments, from the PGA Championship to the US Open, from the Italian Open to The Open Championship, and finally the Ryder Cup scheduled for September. In the House of Sport it will also be possible to watch the spectacle of karate, with the European Championships staged on 10 and 11 May, the World Judo Championships (13-20 June), Premier Padel tournaments, and MLB baseball. Added to all this is the return of Calciomercato - L'Originale in an on tour version and the great Sky Sport Original Productions dedicated to football.
On the sidelines of the event, we approached Marzio Perrelli, Executive Vice President Sport of Sky. "A not inconsiderable economic effort for your group," we asked, "at a time of an international economic situation that is not easy for all players in the world of television. "In difficult times - Perrelli replied - in all things the strongest come out, there is a fairly natural selection, this in all sectors, and this therefore requires us to work with even greater rigour and to put even more enthusiasm, passion and energy into what we broadcast. The economic situation is not good for anyone, the issue of piracy is an issue that for all those who broadcast and who have exclusive content becomes a big issue, worldwide, we try to be at the forefront there as well, but we roll up our sleeves and do our utmost to make the most of what the company allows us to buy, which is a lot.
