Electricity consumption: Terna reports an 8.3 per cent increase in July, with demand at record levels
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - In July, electricity demand in Italia reached its highest monthly figure ever: 32.5 TWh, up 8.3 per cent compared with the same month in 2025. Terna announced this in a statement, adding that “the result was driven by exceptionally high temperatures, which also contributed to the annual peak in demand, reaching approximately 58 GW on 15 July (+4.5% compared with the 2025 peak)”. Renewable sources covered 41.5 per cent of demand. “The positive trend in industrial consumption is confirmed,” the statement continues, “with the figure for July up by 2.1 per cent compared with the same month last year. For the period January–July 2026, the increase stands at 4% compared with the same period in 2025.”
