Terramedia Italia, a regional all-news television network, is launched
Six regional channels, broadcast from the local areas, with news 24 hours a day
TerraMedia has been launched: a new media organisation aiming to build a network of regional television channels dedicated to local news, broadcasting 24 hours a day. These independent yet interconnected channels will combine their local knowledge with digital technologies, sharing content, resources and infrastructure.
The initiative is being implemented by TerraMedia Srl Società Benefit, under the direction and coordination of the Spanish accelerator Startes aceleradora de startups, s.l, following a phased development model designed to expand into new regions. The project will continue with the expansion of the network to a further eight regions over the two-year period 2028–2029.
The first phase includes Emilia24, Romagna24, Lombardia24, Marche24, Abruzzo24 and Molise24. Each broadcaster will have its own editorial identity and a dedicated news team. Daily live reports from fixed locations in the main towns will cover events as they unfold, whilst also giving a voice to smaller towns and local communities.
The investment is expected to amount to approximately 10 million euros, to be allocated to technological infrastructure, the launch of channels, editorial teams and distribution platforms. Once fully operational, the project will employ around 50 professionals, including journalists, technicians, audiovisual and digital production staff, and administrative and management personnel.
Broadcasts on the first channels are expected to begin around spring 2027 . The roll-out of the network will take place in successive phases, with further expansion planned for the two-year period 2028–2029.
