Tesla needs to expand a range that can no longer withstand competition from Chinese brands that now offer models of all sizes at very competitive prices. The new Model Q, initially renamed Model 2, could be Elon Musk's brand's answer to the increasingly ambitious Chinese carmakers. Long known internally as Redwood, the new model could be announced soon, although nothing is official yet. The latest rumours suggest that the car will be 15 per cent more compact than the Model 3 and will be available with a 53 and 75 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery as well as in single and dual motor configurations. Production seems close. It will cost less than $30,000.
Could take up the style of Cybercab
.There are no hints as yet as to the styling of the new baby Tesla or what it will be called, which is still to be understood, but those most informed on the matter suggest that it might resemble the Cybercab, the self-driving robotaxi that Tesla launched a few days ago and which will be in permanent service on the roads in a few years' time, even if initially those in America. As for the production location of the new Tesla, it is not yet clear whether it will be assembled in Fremont, California or Texas. The new model could possibly offer a range that is estimated between 400 and 480 km as well as being compatible with the Supercharger network, the flagship of Elon Musk's brand. In short, a major relaunch of the US brand in all respects.
A grand relaunch of the American brand
.After years of promises, then, accompanied by the numerous rumours that have never been made official by the American carmaker, perhaps the long-awaited moment has come for the Tesla user community to make electric mobility more affordable for everyone, but with a level upgrade typical of all Tesla models. A car, in short, that wants to send a clear message. The American brand also intends to offer a car that is not exactly low cost, but rather much more accessible than the rest of the range, but still based on Tesla's values, especially in terms of innovation, to challenge the increasingly fierce competition from Byd, which has immediately put it in its sights. There is great anticipation to see whether Elon Musk will deliver on his promises.
