Tesla suspends production in Germany: 'Lack of components after attacks on ships in the Red Sea'

Tesla will suspend most of its production for a fortnight at its European factory near Berlin, due to a shortage of spare parts caused by longer transport routes because of the attacks in the Red Sea. This was announced by the electric car manufacturer late yesterday evening.
"Significantly longer transport times create a gap in supply chains," a Tesla note said. Production will be suspended, 'with the exception of some subsectors', at the Gigafactory located southeast of Berlin between 29 January and 11 February. 'From 12 February, production will resume at full speed,' Tesla assured.

The Tesla electric car factory is thus forced to suspend a large part of its production in Grünheide, near Berlin, for about two weeks due to attacks by Yemeni Houthi rebels in the Red Sea. The attacks caused transport routes to be shifted, creating a delay in component supply chains.
