The A22 accelerates efficiency: the third lane project
Objective: to upgrade the infrastructure to handle increasing traffic and improve service levels and safety and environmental standards

And, at the same time, improve service levels and safety and environmental standards by reducing congestion, without practically consuming new land. These are the main objectives of the construction of the third lane of the A22 motorway.
An important plan, not only for the users but also for the territories that are crossed by the motorway infrastructure. The project, drawn up by Autostrada del Brennero Spa, is part of a broader investment plan worth over nine billion euro; a significant portion is reserved for two projects of enormous importance for traffic management: the construction of the third lane between Verona and the intersection with the A1 (1.1 billion euro) and the construction of the dynamic lane between Bolzano and Verona (9 lots for a total of 2.2 billion euro), which can be activated at particularly heavy traffic flows.
Two interventions that will transform the A22 into a three-lane motorway (fixed or dynamic) for the entire lowland section. Traffic flows along the A22, particularly on the section between Bolzano and Verona, reveal a constant upward trend. Reflecting the commercial and tourist economic centrality of the Brenner axis, they become particularly busy at certain times of the year, such as summer weekends or around holidays.
