For the first time, a professional driving simulator has been introduced into maths and physics lessons at a secondary school. This took place today at the Collegio Villoresi in Monza, to mark the official launch of ‘Sim Racing at School’, an educational pilot scheme that the ACI has chosen to sponsor.
The President: “Putting theory into practice”
“Bringing theory to life, developing skills for the workplace, and promoting road safety education, social inclusion and sustainability are the project’s objectives and the fundamental reasons why we firmly believe in an initiative such as Sim Racing at School,” explains ACI President Geronimo La Russa “It is much more than just a classroom with a simulator. It is a new way of teaching, which the ACI intends to make available to all interested schools.” “Speaking the language of young people,” he emphasises, “means engaging them, sparking their interest and inspiring a passion for issues that are fundamental to their future and to the future of mobility that is increasingly responsible, safe, inclusive and sustainable.”
Operational training
“The project demonstrates that it is genuinely possible to bring concepts such as kinematics, dynamics, energy, functions, derivatives and statistics to life; from a methodological perspective, it fosters critical thinking and teamwork; on a motivational level, to harness the pupils’ passion for motorsport and the dynamics of gamification, whilst showcasing the motorsport heritage of Monza, home to the ‘Temple of Speed’. We are convinced that this is just the beginning of a long and fruitful journey,” emphasises Danilo Piazza, headteacher of the lower secondary school at Collegio Villoresi and a member of the ACI Esport Commission.
