Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the International Yoga Day by leading a session in Srinagar, the capital of Kashmir. The event was supposed to take place outdoors, with a few thousand people in attendance, but heavy rain prompted the organisers to make a change of plan: for the first time since the day was called ten years ago, Modi practised indoors in a gymnasium, together with a few hundred people. Once the practice was over, the PM addressed the thousands of people who had waited for him outside, congratulating them on their tenacity in spite of the adverse weather conditions. In his speech, Modi said that International Yoga Day promotes health and well-being on a global scale, and cited Egypt, "where an impressive yoga competition was organised in front of the pyramids. Yoga,' the premier concluded, 'can also become an important source of livelihood for Kashmir, which can attract even more tourists by promoting courses and sessions.
